Get reminders with visual symbols using Remindify

Sometimes it can be confusing or downright disheartening to receive a complex reminder with excessive notes, tasks, or links. It's even worse to have more than one or to notice them all lined up at once on your lock screen. Often you don't need all of that to remember the key concept, you just need a quick visual cue.

The free Remindify iPhone app capitalizes on this idea. Instead of setting reminders for yourself using text, all you do in Remindify is choose a time, date, and symbol to remind you of exactly what you need to do. As a result, it's quick to add reminders and even quicker to get them and grasp concepts – short, sweet and to the point.

Set your visual-reminders

First of all, if you haven't already, you should probably download Remindify for iPhone and iPod touch for free. Fortunately, there is no special registration or registration to do. Just launch the app, turn on notifications, and get started.

Since the app is fairly new, it's simple for now, but that doesn't mean it's not functional. Tap the Create Reminder icon at the bottom right to set your first reminder. The dates of the 30 days around your current date appear horizontally at the top to choose one. Below you have preset times, manual time setting and visual symbol to choose for this reminder.

Tip: You're probably better off choosing something other than the "General" callback symbol. Seems pretty pointless, so scroll through some of the others like "Workout" or "Travel" to choose which best represents the task you need to accomplish. If you don't see what you want right now, don't worry, you can add more symbols later.

When you're done with your first reminder, tap the tick to add it to the date you want.

Personalize or snooze your reminders

If you feel like one of Remindify's little symbols might leave you lost, you can add some customization to the reminder if needed, but you can only do this once you've already created the initial reminder. .

From there, just tap the reminder to see the four options associated with it. To add a very brief description, you can press Description , even if it defeats the purpose of the application. You can also tap Repeat for recurring reminders – daily, weekly or monthly.

Finally, either Edit time and date in this menu or press Discard if it is complete.

Choose the symbols that suit you best

The default set of reminder symbols isn't all that versatile or descriptive:there are only seven of them, and they're meant for simple reminders like meeting someone, getting home, or going to work out. Luckily, Remindify overcompensates heavily with the rest of the symbols. I'm not even quite sure why more of them aren't enabled from the start, but there are over 200 of them and they bring so much power to the app.

To add more symbols to your favorites list for easy access, tap the Settings icon in the upper right. Press the green More icon next to any symbol you think fits your life. There doesn't seem to be any order or structure to the way the symbols are laid out, so take the time to scroll through and choose the ones that work for you. Symbols include everything from "Mark Calendar" to "Report a Problem" to "Listen to Album" to "Publish" and more. Get creative with it.

Visual-aids are finally here

That's all there is to know about Remindify...for now. Keep in mind that it's new to the app store, so it doesn't have a lot of features yet. With time and updates, it's easy to see that Remindify can extend the foundations it has established to use helpful visual cues as daily reminders.
