The secret to the perfect selfie is not a duck face or fish gape, but a genuine smile! More than 72% go for real and pure. This is apparent from a study by Kruidvat into smartphone use by Dutch people. The perfect selfie is just not made 1-2-3, 53% say they succeed after about 10 attempts. As the ultimate selfie buddy of both women and men, the always charming George Clooney (63%) is the number 1 spot, followed by Doutzen Kroes (47%), Oprah Winfrey 31%, Christiano Ronaldo (21%), Justin Bieber (10%) and selfie queen Kim Kardashian with 13%.

Editing and using filters for the perfect selfie (19%) are surprisingly less popular. Tricks with your face such as a 'duck face' or 'fish gape' are still the way to take a successful selfie for a small group, 9%. The majority need about 10 tries for a successful selfie, on the other hand, the camera works overtime at almost 20% for the perfect selfie; they need countless photos in the hope that there is one good one among them.

80% can't live without their smartphone and they prefer to use it all day, 48% said. Yet 40% suffer from cramps and muscle pain in his or her hand and a shocking 20% ​​are fatigued from use and can sleep far too little. One fifth of the respondents is completely stressed when the battery is almost empty. The majority of the respondents, 42%, are therefore prepared for anything; with them the battery will never run out.

When asked what the smartphone is most used for, 55% answered that they want to stay up to date through the use of social media. Whatsapp appears to be the most popular; almost 75% cannot live without it. The respondents are the least attached to Snapchat, only 1% said they couldn't do without this feature.
