The Rave Model 1 Bluetooth speaker comes with a micro-USB charging cable, 3.5mm AUX cable and a one-page user manual. Although the climbing hook is listed separately, it is already attached to the speaker - as mentioned above.
The Rave Model 1 Bluetooth Speaker is extremely easy to use and everything is where you would expect. Above the speaker you will find the power button, play/pause, mode switch (Bluetooth, micro-SD, AUX input) and previous/next buttons.
The previous/next buttons also serve as volume up/down buttons. A short press changes the video or song while a long press changes the speaker volume level.
On the side (opposite the climbing hook) you will find the micro-USB port for charging, the AUX-in socket to connect directly to a device and a micro-SD card slot. I like having the ability to play music and audio from a micro-SD card as it saves your mobile device battery.
What's also nice is the airtight lid that protects the ports and the water intake. You actually have to put in a little extra effort just to open it, which shows how secure the seal is.
When you turn on the speaker, a blue LED light will display on the front and enter Bluetooth pairing mode (using Bluetooth 4.2). It only took me a few seconds to pair it with my Galaxy S8 device.
My phone not only recognized it as a device capable of playing audio, but also as a device capable of handling phone calls - thanks to the microphone on the front of the speaker (not visible, but it's the). When I received a phone call from my husband, the sound came through perfectly and he could hear me clearly from his side.
If you want to connect the speaker to a computer, laptop, etc., just plug in the AUX cable and it will automatically switch to this mode. You can easily switch back to Bluetooth mode by pressing the "M" button (mode switch).
I have a Roku Express device that doesn't have Bluetooth, so having the ability to plug it directly into this speaker is really handy. Doing so, it works as expected and without problems. Plus, the sound is so good my husband thought I was listening through my regular Bose speaker. He was shocked to find it was the Rave Model 1 Bluetooth speaker with such robust sound.
Listening to music is even more enjoyable with the rich, punchy bass; at high volume levels, the speaker literally vibrates with the music! I have to say it sounds just as good as my Bose speaker and at a fraction of the cost.
