Samsung Pay Adds Support for Storing Your COVID-19 Vaccination Card

With COVID-19 vaccination cards increasingly required for entry to certain venues, Samsung is simplifying the process by enabling users to store their vaccination details directly in Samsung Pay.

Samsung has announced an upcoming update, rolling out over the next two weeks, that allows U.S. users to add immunization information to Samsung Pay. Note that this feature is limited to the United States.

The data is sourced from the CommonHealth app, available on Google Play. Users must create an account and verify their identity to access it.

Once verified, simply tap "Add to Samsung Pay" to transfer the data. This creates a digital version of your COVID-19 vaccine card, complete with a QR code for quick and convenient use.

"As more consumers rely on their Samsung devices as digital wallets, extending this to make COVID-19 vaccination records easily accessible is a logical next step," said Rob White, Senior Product Director for Samsung Pay at Samsung Electronics America.

One key challenge remains: acceptance. Will venues recognize this digital version as valid proof? Verification standards vary—some accept a simple photo, while others are stricter. Time will tell if Samsung Pay's vaccine card faces any hurdles.
