Google's ARC Welder tool lets you test Android APKs directly in Chrome, a step toward integrating apps into the Chrome Web Store. Built for developers, it's usable by any Chromebook owner. As a beta tool, expect compatibility issues—not all apps install or run perfectly, especially those needing Google Play Services. Here's our tested step-by-step guide based on real-world Chromebook experience.

Search for and add the ARC Welder extension from the Chrome Web Store to your Chromebook. It's straightforward and quick to set up.
APK files are Android app installers. Skip Google Play—download trusted APKs from sites like APKMirror, which covers most apps safely. Gather all your APKs in one folder for easy access.

Open the Chrome app launcher, launch ARC Welder, and click 'Add your APK.' Select your file from the folder via the file manager.

Use default settings for most apps: select Portrait or Landscape orientation, Tablet form factor (scales best), and enable clipboard access if needed. Minimal tweaks required.

Hit 'Launch App'—it opens in a new window with full functionality mirroring the Android version. Apps like Slack run flawlessly in our tests. Touch-heavy or Play Services-dependent apps may struggle.
While not perfect, ARC Welder bridges Chromebook and Android worlds effectively. Official ports from Google will enhance productivity further.
