Amazon unveiled its innovative home robot, Astro, at the fall hardware event on September 28. Designed as a versatile mobile assistant, Astro navigates your home's ground floor with ease. It patrols while you're away, carries small items between rooms (once placed in its compartment by you), tracks individuals via its periscope camera during video calls, plays music, and entertains kids with games—plus many more everyday tasks. Think of it as an Echo Show 10 on wheels, powered by Alexa, with advanced navigation and self-charging docking like a premium robot vacuum (minus the vacuuming).
Initially produced in limited batches as Amazon refines its real-world performance, Astro launches as an invite-only product. The Alexa-enabled assistant retails for $1,449.99 but is available through the Amazon Day 1 Editions program for $999.99, including a six-month Ring Protect Pro trial. Submit your invite request directly on Amazon—the company plans to start approvals and ship to U.S. customers later this year.
