If you're looking to maximize Microsoft Sway, this guide—drawn from hands-on experience—covers everything you need.
Let's dive in.
Microsoft Sway is completely free with a Microsoft account. Office 365 subscribers get extras like password protection.

Anyone with a Microsoft account can create Sways. Download the Windows 10 app from the Microsoft Store or access it at sway.office.com.
As a web app like Google Docs, Sway requires no complex setup—just log in to access templates. The Windows 10 app mirrors the online experience seamlessly.
Sway documents are called Sways. Upon login, browse homepage templates and select one, like the corporate presentation I often use.

Navigate slides with arrows or preview via the Browse button.

Click "Start editing this Sway" to enter Edit view and begin adding content.

Sway's organized interface and intuitive design make adding content effortless.

Click any card's header or plus icon to insert images, audio, video, URLs, or group cards—even from your PC.

Preview anytime via the Design tab.
For images, click the placeholder—Sway suggests theme-matched options.

Select and add, or upload from PC/OneDrive. Videos work similarly.

Text formatting—bold, italic, links—is in the top ribbon.
Sway's Focal Point feature lets you highlight key image areas.

Select an image, choose Focal Point, and mark spots. Check the full-frame option if needed.
Sway provides varied styles per template. In Design mode, click Styles for dozens of options with built-in colors and fonts.

Match to your theme, or customize fonts, animations, palettes, and sizes.

Try the Remix! button for instant variations.
Beyond templates, generate custom ones by topic—Sway curates content automatically.

From homepage, select "Start from Topic" and enter your subject.

Finish your Sway? Click Share for a link, email visual previews, or direct posts to Facebook/Twitter. Embed codes available too.

Invite collaborators via Share > Edit link, just like Google Docs or Dropbox Paper.

Microsoft Sway elevates your presentations, portfolios, and resumes without endless effort.
