Tumblr's blogging platform is incredibly versatile, offering diverse post types and seamless reblogging for a unique experience. But managing years of accumulated posts can be overwhelming. Enter Tumblr's under-the-radar Mass Post Editor (also known as the Mega Editor), a powerful tool for bulk actions. As a seasoned Tumblr user with years of experience optimizing blogs, I've relied on this feature extensively—here's how to access and maximize it.
In this guide, we'll cover accessing the editor, its core features and limitations, the game-changing Mass+ New XKit extension, and tips for better results.
Finding the Mass Post Editor isn't intuitive—it's tucked away on the dashboard. From your Account menu under your main blog, select "Posts." Look for the subtle "Mass Post Editor" link on the right side. Click it to load the interface.

For secondary blogs without a selector, edit the URL: replace your primary blog's username with the secondary one's and hit Enter.

Alternatively, open the secondary blog first via the dashboard, then launch the editor. URL swapping is faster for quick switches.
Posts appear as thumbnails, organized by month for easy navigation. Scroll or use the top-left dropdown to load specific months/years—essential for targeted management.

Thumbnails help identify post types quickly; double-click to open in a new tab (a built-in preview would be ideal). Top-right options include Delete, Edit Tags, Add Tags, and Deselect.

Select thumbnails individually—no drag-select. Limit: 100 posts max. Click Delete, confirm, and they're gone permanently—no undo, so double-check selections.

Note: Avoid accidental deletions by reviewing carefully.Use Edit/Add Tags for bulk tagging up to 100 posts. No native tag filtering, but New XKit fixes that.
For adding: Select posts, click Add Tags, enter tags, confirm.

For removing: Click Edit Tags (shows all tags across selections), check unwanted ones, confirm.
Note: Tags listed may not apply to every post.Tumblr's editor is basic, but New XKit's Mass+ mini-extension supercharges it with filters. New XKit is a trusted community extension suite for Tumblr.
Install for Chrome or Firefox:

In the panel, select Get Extensions > Install Mass+.

Now, the editor gains Select Top 100, Deselect All, post-type filters (text, photo, video, etc.), and monthly selectors.
Cool tip: Filters grab up to 100 recent loaded posts—reload months strategically.
For tag search (experimental): In New XKit panel > Mass+ > Enable "Search by tag." Refresh editor for the Search by Tags option—one tag at a time.

Note: Experimental, so one tag only—monitor updates.Launched in 2010, Tumblr's Mass Post Editor hasn't evolved much. Thankfully, Mass+ makes bulk editing efficient across hundreds of posts via batches.
