Tumblr organizes posts with tags, pulling related content from blogs you follow or searches. Instead of unfollowing favorites, filter specific tags to hide irrelevant posts without missing out on the good stuff. Your settings sync across desktop and mobile for seamless control.
Tumblr's tagging is straightforward: creators add relevant tags to help users discover content. However, followed blogs can flood your feed with tagged posts you'd rather skip. Tumblr's built-in filter blocks all posts with those tags—even if they have others attached.
Filtered posts show as placeholders on your dashboard. Click "View post" to peek if it's from a trusted blog. To spot tags worth blocking, check the bottom of any post. For instance, filter #starwarsspoiler to enjoy Star Wars content spoiler-free.
Filtering on desktop is quick via account settings, with changes applying instantly.
Step 1: In the Tumblr dashboard, click the Account icon, then select Settings.
Step 2: Click the Edit pencil icon under Filtering, enter the tag (no # needed—Tumblr adds it), and hit Add.
