Windows 10's Continue on PC feature offers seamless convenience, letting you switch from your mobile device to PC without manual syncing. However, by default, links only open in Microsoft Edge.
We've tested and refined this workaround based on real-world use. Here's how to redirect those links to your preferred browser like Chrome or Firefox.

This behavior stems from a hardcoded URL protocol tied to Edge. The good news: EdgeDeflector, a trusted open-source tool from GitHub, intercepts these links and routes them to your default browser effortlessly.
EdgeDeflector (around 50 KB) reliably redirects microsoft-edge:// URLs to Chrome, Firefox, or any default browser without delays.
Download the latest executable from GitHub.
Download EdgeDeflector
Run the installer. During setup, select EdgeDeflector as the default app for URL protocols and ensure "Always use this app" is checked.

Note: If the option doesn't appear, see the section below.
Click Finish to complete.
Test it: On your Android or iOS device, tap Continue on PC while browsing. The page should now open instantly in your default PC browser.

Note: EdgeDeflector automatically adapts when you change default browsers—no reconfiguration needed.
Manually configure post-installation:
Step 1: Search Start for "Apps & features".

Step 2: Click "Default apps" > "Set defaults by app".

Step 3: Select EdgeDeflector > Manage.

Step 4: Under URL:microsoft-edge protocol, switch from Microsoft Edge to EdgeDeflector.

Step 5: Close to save.

Note: Reverse these steps anytime to revert to Edge.
EdgeDeflector also fixes Cortana web searches, opening results in your default browser despite Bing integration.

Note: Re-enable Cortana via taskbar right-click > Cortana > Show icon/box.
EdgeDeflector empowers you to use Continue on PC your way. For Cortana users, it's an added win.
Monitor Windows updates, as they may reset protocols—reapply if needed. Keep EdgeDeflector updated for best results.
