As a password management expert with years of experience recommending tools like Dashlane, LastPass, and 1Password, I applaud you for using unique passwords across all your accounts. This practice significantly bolsters your online security. That said, there are legitimate scenarios—like collaborating on a project or needing someone to check your accounts while you're away—where sharing specific credentials without exposing your entire vault makes sense.

Managing hundreds of passwords can be overwhelming. Dashlane's built-in Sharing Center lets you share select passwords securely with friends or family while retaining full control. You can even designate an emergency contact for automatic access if needed. Here's a step-by-step guide based on the latest Dashlane features.
In the Dashlane app on Mac or PC, navigate to the Sharing Center from the left sidebar. Click Add new at the top.

Select the specific accounts to share by typing their names—they'll appear for easy selection.
Note: For sharing your entire vault, use the Emergency Contact feature detailed below.

Enter the recipient's email address. They must have a free Dashlane account.

Choose access level: Limited rights allows viewing and using passwords only, ideal for most cases. Full rights enables editing, further sharing, and even revoking your access—reserve for utmost trust.

Add your name and a personal message, then send. The recipient receives an email to confirm and access the shared credentials securely in their Dashlane app.
Dashlane's Emergency feature grants a trusted contact time-delayed access to your vault—perfect for unforeseen events or estate planning.

Below Sharing Center, select Emergency. Add your contact's email (Dashlane account required). Choose a delay from 24 hours to 60 days. Options include No wait time or Require response from you.

Click Forward to customize accessible passwords; otherwise, full vault access is granted by default.

Send the setup email. This prepares future access requests without immediate sharing.
Note: Your emergency contact needs a Dashlane account.
