Zoom meetings have become essential for remote learning, professional calls, and virtual social gatherings. If you own an Echo Show, it transforms into a powerful hands-free Zoom device, freeing you from squinting at your phone or laptop screen.
Zoom video calling is supported on Echo Show 8 (1st and 2nd gen) and Echo Show 10 (the rotating model). Amazon plans to roll it out to Echo Show 15 later this year.
Both Echo Show 10 and 2nd-gen Echo Show 8 feature auto-tracking cameras with digital pan and zoom to keep you in frame as you move. The Echo Show 10 even rotates 360 degrees to follow you around the kitchen or room—ideal for multitasking like cooking during calls.
To get started, you'll need a free Amazon account, the Alexa app on your phone, and an Echo Show 8 or 10 linked to the same account.
Setup is straightforward—no Zoom app download or skill activation required, and no Zoom account needed. That said, signing into your Zoom account unlocks extra features like easier joining and more meeting controls. We'll cover that below.
Note: You can join Zoom audio-only on screenless Echo devices like Echo or Echo Dot, but calendar linking in the Alexa app is required (detailed below).
Connecting your calendar lets Alexa join meetings without IDs or passwords—just say "Alexa, join my meeting" or "Alexa, start my next meeting" (it confirms first). It also announces upcoming Zooms. Essential for screenless Echo audio joins.
Pro tip: In multi-user homes, enable Alexa Visual ID or Voice ID to match the right calendar.
A Zoom account enhances hosting and scheduling options, though not required for basic use.
