Is TouchWiz improving?
Your Galaxy S6 likely felt buttery smooth at first, but app installs and the Android 5.1.1 update can introduce lag. A quick fix I've relied on: disable animations.
Enable Developer Options via Settings > About phone (tap Build number 7 times). Then, in Developer Options, set Window Animation Scale, Transition Animation Scale, and Animator Duration Scale to 0.5x or off entirely.

This delivers noticeable speed gains on lagging devices.
TouchWiz cut back on bloatware, but redundancies remain. From experience, disable S Voice (prefer Google Now), S Health (if unused), OneNote (unremovable nuisance), Galaxy Apps (Play Store suffices), Google+, Briefing (Twitter for news), and Peel Smart Remote.

TouchWiz shines here over stock Android. Customize up to 9 key settings: Open Settings, tap Edit, and prioritize essentials like Battery or Mobile networks.

Android 5.1.1 introduced this gem. Go to Settings > Battery > Battery optimization. Select seldom-used apps like SpeedTest or banking apps to auto-stop after closing—no background drain or notifications until reopened.
Avoid active apps like Uber or music players. Choose wisely.

The IR blaster controls TVs, set-top boxes, and more, but Peel Smart Remote forces TV provider setup—useless for my Chromecast setup. I disabled it.

Switch to AnyMote ($6.99 premium worth it). Free version for basics; configure devices and add home screen widgets. Perfect for power/volume on my TV.
Tailor the notification shade: Swipe down, tap Edit, drag favorites like flashlight, rotation, hotspot, and power saving to the top. Hide others.

The update removed S Finder and Quick Connect—more notification space.
Samsung nixed button light duration controls. Galaxy Button Lights app fixes this—keep capacitive buttons lit while the screen's on. Essential for touch precision.

Leave Wi-Fi on; it auto-reconnects and switches to mobile data if needed. Settings > Wi-Fi > menu > Smart Network Switch. Handles poor/open networks seamlessly.
