Google Maps has rolled out innovative features that simplify navigation, discovery, and trip management in new cities and countries. Highlights include Live View with augmented reality (AR) for precise walking directions, a centralized hub for flight and hotel bookings, and an enhanced Timeline to relive trips and share recommendations with friends.
Navigate with Confidence Using Live View
Nothing beats exploring a city on foot to soak in the sights and sounds. Yet, figuring out the right direction can be tricky. Live View leverages augmented reality (AR) to overlay arrows and indicators on your screen, guiding you seamlessly through your surroundings.
To activate, open Google Maps, search your destination, tap the walking icon, then select "Live View." Point your phone's camera at nearby buildings—Google will pinpoint your location and display clear directional cues in the real world.
Discover Top Local Restaurants Tailored to You No trip is complete without great food. The new Your Match feature recommends eateries based on your tastes, shows real-time wait times, lets you book tables directly in-app, and highlights must-try popular dishes.

Stay Organized with Centralized Trip Reservations
Google Maps now serves as your one-stop spot for flight and hotel bookings—ideal for airport check-ins or heading to your accommodation. Tap the three gray lines in the top-left corner for an overview of upcoming trips, including all reservations. Best of all, access this info offline, so no Wi-Fi or roaming data worries abroad.
Relive Memories and Share Travel Gems
With Location History enabled, the updated Timeline lets you revisit favorite spots like that amazing restaurant or unique shop. Browse visits by category—restaurants, stores, theme parks, hotels, airports—across cities or countries. Easily create personalized recommendation lists with notes and share them instantly with friends and family.
Reservations and Live View are available on both Android and iOS. The new Timeline rolls out first on Android devices.
