Controlling smart devices from your phone shouldn't require launching multiple apps. Samsung Galaxy phones simplify this with built-in Quick Settings integration, giving you instant access to lights, thermostats, and more. As experienced Android users, we've tested this on the latest Galaxy models—here's exactly how to set it up.
Android 11 first introduced smart home controls in the power menu, but Samsung pioneered Quick Settings placement ahead of Google's Android 12 adoption. They're always one swipe down from the top of your screen.
Only apps supporting Device Control appear here. On Samsung devices, that's primarily Google Home and SmartThings. Ensure one is set up with your compatible devices.
Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings, then tap the "Devices" button.
If you've used SmartThings or Google Home before, your devices may already appear. Otherwise, tap the three-dot menu and select "Manage apps".
Toggle on the apps containing your desired devices.
Select an app to choose specific devices for the panel.
Pick devices to include and deselect others.
Tap the back arrow when finished.
Return to the "Devices" screen—your selected devices are now ready. Drag tiles to reorder them for quick access.
Tap a tile to jump to its app page, or use the power icon for instant on/off control.
Switch apps by tapping the down arrow next to the app name and selecting another.
That's it! Quick Settings now offers one-swipe smart home control—far simpler than opening apps every time.
