As experienced WordPress developers at WPBeginner, we've guided thousands of site owners in enhancing their sites with interactive maps. One reader recently asked about adding Bing Maps to WordPress. While we've covered Google Maps extensively, Bing Maps is a reliable alternative with unique features. In this expert guide, we'll show you proven methods to embed Bing Maps—with or without a plugin.
If you prefer written steps or the video doesn't suit you, read on for detailed instructions.
Start by visiting Bing Maps and search for your desired location. Once found, click the Share button. A popup appears with a shareable link and embed code ready for your webpage.

Below the code, click Customize and preview to open a customization window. Adjust map size, toggle Bing Maps links, select map type (road, aerial, etc.), and preview. Satisfied? Hit Generate Code.

Copy the generated embed code and paste it directly into WordPress posts, pages, or sidebar widgets using the Text/HTML editor. It integrates seamlessly without coding.
For sites needing multiple maps, our recommended Leaflet Maps Marker plugin streamlines the process. First, install and activate it from the WordPress plugin directory. You'll need a free Bing Maps API key.
Create an account at the Bing Maps Portal.

From the sidebar, select Create or view keys. Enter your website details. Opt for a Basic key (Trial expires in 90 days; Basic suits public sites with fair usage limits). Choose Public website as the app type and submit.

Your key appears at the page bottom. Copy it, then navigate to Maps Marker » Settings > Bing Maps tab, and paste it in.

By default, the plugin uses other providers—switch to Bing: Go to Maps Marker » Settings > Map Defaults. In Default Basemap, select your preferred Bing option (aerial, road, etc.) and save.

To create a map: Visit Maps Marker » Add New, name it, set the location, and customize markers/layers using the plugin's advanced tools. Publish when ready.

Grab the generated shortcode and embed it in posts/pages for responsive, feature-rich Bing Maps.

This approach has helped countless WPBeginner users enhance visitor engagement with precise mapping. Questions? Drop a comment below or follow us on Twitter for more tips.
