Enter 2020 with the Galaxy S20 like a pro.
If you've just picked up a new Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+, or even the S20 Ultra 5G, these expert tips will help you unlock its full potential. As someone who's extensively tested Samsung flagships, I've curated these based on real-world use.
The Galaxy S20 series boasts a stunning 120Hz refresh rate display, but it's set to 60Hz by default to conserve battery. Switching it on delivers incredibly smooth scrolling.
Go to Settings > Display > Motion smoothness, then select High (120Hz) for that fluid experience.

Note: 120Hz is available only at HD+ or FHD+ resolutions. Switching to WQHD+ automatically reverts to 60Hz.
Facial unlock is faster than ever in 2020, but accessories like dark sunglasses can trip it up. One UI 2.0's Alternate Appearance feature fixes that.
Navigate to Settings > Biometrics and security > Face recognition > Add alternate appearance. Register your face with sunglasses on.

Test it out— in my hands-on experience, it works flawlessly. Also, enable Stay on lock screen to prevent accidental unlocks from launching apps.
Music Share turns your S20 into a Bluetooth hub, letting friends connect their devices to your paired speaker without constant re-pairing—perfect for parties.

Connect your phone to a Bluetooth speaker via Settings > Connections > Bluetooth. Tap the three-dot menu > Advanced > toggle Music share on.

On the other device, pair with the speaker directly. Note: Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
Quick Share (in Quick Settings) enables lightning-fast file transfers between Galaxy devices via Wi-Fi Direct.

In my tests, 41 photos and videos moved from S20 to S10 Lite in under two minutes. Long-press Quick Share in Quick Settings, set visibility to Contacts only, and rename your device for easy ID.

On the sender, enable Phone visibility. Compatible devices appear in the share menu.

Route audio from specific apps to different outputs, like podcasts to a Bluetooth speaker while phone audio plays normally.

Go to Settings > Sounds and vibration > Separate app sounds, pick an app (e.g., YouTube Music), and select output.

Seamlessly handle calls and texts on paired Samsung tablets like the Galaxy Tab S6, even if your phone is elsewhere.
Enable via Settings > Advanced features > Calls and texts on other devices. Sign in with the same Samsung account on all devices.

Effortlessly transfer photos, send messages, and more from your PC using Microsoft's Your Phone app (now Phone Link).

Sign in with a Microsoft account on both devices. Go to Settings > Advanced features > Link to Windows for setup.

Note: Download the Your Phone app on PC.
Beyond these, customize your lock screen and Edge panels for a personalized touch. Check our Guiding Tech YouTube video on these tips. One UI makes it nearly perfect.
