Note: These tips work on both Android and iOS versions of Threads.
The app's core screens are the camera and home feed. Beyond the buttons, swipe down from either to instantly toggle between them—just like refreshing in Chrome or Snapchat.

The profile icons next to the capture button on the camera screen are functional shortcuts. Tap one to snap and send a photo instantly. Long-press to start recording and send a video.

Not happy with your photo or video? Swipe down on the preview to reveal the delete icon, then release to discard it effortlessly.

To send your captured photo or video, swipe up on the preview. The send button works too, but gestures are faster.
After editing, tap the download icon on the send screen to save the media to your device gallery first.

Hold to record video, then double-tap the screen with your free hand to switch cameras without stopping—perfect for one-handed use.
Skip settings: Swipe right on a friend's thread on the home screen, then confirm to remove them from your close friends list.

From the home screen, swipe left on a friend's thread to open the camera pre-selected for them—saves extra steps.

Like Instagram Direct, choose 'Once,' 'Replay,' or 'Keep in Chat' after capturing to control how recipients view your media.

Customize beyond shortcuts: From home screen, tap the three-bar menu > Customize Camera. Drag the camera icon to your preferred spot.

As shown, the button now sits where it's most comfortable for you.

Create an Instagram group with close friends, then in Customize Camera, tap the + to add it as a shortcut alongside individuals.

Tap your profile pic at the top center to set status or enable auto-status—no need to dig into settings.

Open a friend's thread and tap the video icon at the top to start a call—seamless integration for face-to-face chats.

Threads launched with multiple themes, including dark mode (auto on Android 10+/iOS 13+). Go to Settings > Themes to pick one—iOS even changes the app icon.

Can't delete threads directly? Remove the friend from close friends or delete the chat in main Instagram to clear it from Threads.
