Since the Android 8.0 Oreo update, Samsung's default keyboard has received a stunning makeover, rivaling top third-party apps with features like clipboard access, customizable themes, GIFs, and more.
As a seasoned Galaxy user and Android expert, I've tested these enhancements extensively. If you're not fully leveraging them yet, this guide covers the top 13 tips to supercharge your typing experience.

Let's dive in.
The toolbar, inspired by apps like SwiftKey, offers quick access to emojis, GIFs, clipboard, voice input, one-handed mode, and settings. Rearrange icons to suit your workflow: tap the down arrow in the top-right corner and drag to reorder.

While typing, it hides to show predictions—tap the toolbar icon top-left to view it anytime.

Prefer more screen space? Turn it off easily:
Step 1: Tap the settings icon in the toolbar, then select Keyboard layout and feedback.

Step 2: Toggle off Keyboard toolbar.

Emoji fans rejoice: without the toolbar, shortcuts return to the keyboard. Disable the toolbar first (as above), then hold the comma key to access options and set emoji as your default shortcut.

Samsung's built-in clipboard handles text and images—a rarity among keyboards. Access via the toolbar, then long-press any item and select Lock to Clipboard to keep it pinned.

Resize for comfort:
Step 1: Tap the settings gear.

Step 2: Go to Keyboard layout and feedback > Keyboard size and layout.

Step 3: Drag the blue border to adjust. Pro tip: Hide number row or enable dual-view symbols here too.

Switch from QWERTY to T9 (3x4):
Step 1: Settings > Languages and types.

Step 2: Tap your language and select layout.

Enable high-contrast modes:
Step 1: Settings > Keyboard layout & feedback.
Step 2: Tap High contrast keyboard (not the toggle), enable, and pick a scheme.

Update via the Theme app—your device theme syncs automatically to the keyboard.

Hands-free: In any app with keyboard open, press Bixby button and say "Dictate" followed by your text. Ideal for driving.

Create auto-expanding shortcuts: Settings > Smart typing > Text shortcuts > Add.

Long-press misspelled suggestions and confirm to delete for better predictions.

Choose swipe typing or cursor control: Settings > Smart typing > Keyboard swipe controls.

Edit the 10 symbols under long-press period: Settings > Keyboard layout & feedback > Custom symbols.

Apply these tips to transform your Samsung keyboard. With hands-on experience, I can attest they make typing faster and more intuitive on Galaxy devices.
