Smartphone innovation has evolved from raw power to standout features, and Samsung's Galaxy S6 Edge+ exemplifies this shift with its stunning curved-edge design.
While I was initially skeptical about the dual-edge screen's added functionality, its sleek aesthetics are undeniable—no other phone matched its style at launch. Whether you use the edges for quick glances at notifications or weather, it's a unique feature.
Here are four practical tips I've tested extensively on the S6 Edge+ to help you get the most out of it.
The S6 Edge+ builds on the People Edge (covered in our S6 Edge review) with Apps Edge. Swipe inward from the edge to access it—a second layer beyond People Edge. Customize it with your favorite apps for quick access, though options are limited compared to People Edge (no actions like calling back missed calls), and it's unavailable when locked.

To rearrange, drag and drop apps vertically. Position the edge handle centrally via settings for optimal use on the larger S6 Edge+ screen.
In the default music player, tap MORE from a playlist or song, then SoundAlive, and select Sound quality and effects. With headphones plugged in, try Upscaler UHQ and SoundAlive+—my top picks for clarity across all music genres. Pro Tube Amp can muddy the sound, so experiment to suit your headphones.

I've relied on these settings daily for superior audio.
Head to Settings > More connection settings and enable Download Booster (off by default). It accelerates file and attachment downloads over mobile data—proven effective in my real-world tests, ideal for frequent travelers.

Samsung's Theme Store lets you personalize without third-party apps. Long-press the home screen, tap Themes, and browse. I recommend Material or Dark Material—perfect if you prefer dark-mode apps.
