Women Spend Nearly a Month a Year Gaming, Per Guinness World Records Research

According to the 2017 Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition, modern women dedicate about a month each year to video games. The study reveals that the average woman logs up to 12 hours weekly—eight on mobile screens and four on consoles. Over four in ten female gamers describe it as therapeutic, while more than a quarter experience a thrill from leveling up or earning coveted scores.

Typically, women have downloaded over five game apps on their phones and spend 15% of their day on games and puzzles. From a survey of 1,500 women, eight in ten prefer solo play, but 18% game regularly with partners, and 44% say it strengthens their bond. Yet, competition thrives: 68% of women claim to outperform their partners.

Among 1,000 surveyed women, 67% favor puzzle or pattern games, with bed as the top spot (54%). Candy Crush leads, followed by Angry Birds and Temple Run. Notably, 28% feel calmer since starting, 25% report sharper reflexes, and 31% view gaming as prime 'me time'.
