WhatsApp has revolutionized communication for small businesses lacking the budget for elaborate websites or marketing campaigns. Launched in 2018, the WhatsApp Business app introduced tailored features for entrepreneurs. The latest addition, the Catalog feature, transforms how businesses showcase products directly within the app.
Previously, sharing product photos meant digging through your gallery or directing customers to Instagram or a website—frustrating for both parties. WhatsApp Business Catalog eliminates this hassle, offering a streamlined digital storefront. Wondering what it is and how to leverage it? This expert guide, drawn from years of optimizing business tools, covers everything you need to know.
In business, a catalog is a curated collection of products for sale. WhatsApp Business catalogs work the same way: they let you display items complete with names, prices, descriptions, images (up to 10 per product), product codes, and even website links. Create multiple catalogs for product groups or variations, like Harry Potter t-shirts by theme or color.

Follow these proven steps:
Step 1: Open the WhatsApp Business app.
Step 2: Tap the three-dot menu (Android) or Settings (iPhone).

Step 3: Go to Business Settings > Catalog.

Step 4: In Catalog Manager, tap Add product or service or the green + icon.

Step 5: Fill in product name, price, description, website, and code. Tap Save.

Step 6: Products enter review (green clock icon). Once approved, they go live.

Note: WhatsApp reviews all items for compliance—no drugs, alcohol, adult products, etc. Review prohibited items list.
Approvals typically take 1-2 minutes, ensuring quick go-live for compliant products.
From Catalog Manager (Settings > Business Settings > Catalog), select a product: edit via pencil icon or delete via three-dot menu.

Share via three methods:
In chat, tap attachment (+) icon > Catalog. Select items (green checkmarks) and send.

Step 1: Settings > Business Settings > Catalog.

Step 2: Select product > share icon > choose contacts.

Tap catalog > share icon (Android) or three-dots > Send (iPhone).

Catalogs stand out with name, price, and View button for details.

From business chat, tap profile > Catalog section for full product views.

Visible to anyone with your number or shared links—no restrictions beyond that.
WhatsApp cloud-hosts images, saving device space. View without downloading; tap previews to load.
