After seven years of dedicated development, modder Albert Marin and his skilled team have finished their exhaustive graphical overhaul of the PC version of Resident Evil 4. Unlike typical remasters that update visuals for new hardware, this project meticulously enhances every frame using fan donations to refine Capcom's original PC port.
Where original textures fell short at higher resolutions, the team recreated them from scratch with photos and AI tools, all while preserving the game's authentic aesthetic. In my 2021 interview with Albert Marin, the team revealed over 4,500 Photoshop files and more than 9,000 hours invested.
Remarkably, Capcom hasn't issued a cease-and-desist—even with the official Resident Evil 4 VR edition nearing release on Quest 2. In fact, they've shown support by pinning the fan patch discussion on the Steam forums. A positive sign for the community.

This free Steam patch makes no gameplay changes, instead upgrading every detail—from stones and ammo boxes to doorknobs and cutscenes. If you've played the Resident Evil 4 VR edition on Quest 2, this offers the most refined version of the classic third-person shooter.
