As a long-time Opera user and browser optimization specialist, I've helped countless users safeguard their data during updates and migrations. Opera, now powered by the Chromium engine like Google Chrome, lacks a built-in one-click export for all settings. However, manually backing up your bookmarks, history, extensions, and more is straightforward and highly recommended to avoid data loss.
Follow these proven steps to manually back up your Opera profile data securely.
Launch Opera by clicking its icon on your Desktop or searching via the Start menu.

Type opera:about into the address bar and press Enter. Copy the Profile path listed under Path.

Open File Explorer, paste the Profile path into the address bar, and press Enter to access the folder.
Inside the Profile folder, select and copy key items like Bookmarks, History, Extensions, Cookies, and other data folders. This ensures a complete backup.
Open OneDrive, create a new folder (right-click > New > Folder), and paste your files there for cloud-synced safety.
Your Opera data is now securely backed up. Note: Passwords cannot be backed up this way—use Opera Sync for seamless password protection across devices.
Browser data is irreplaceable. Bookmarks, custom settings, and extensions you've curated over time could be lost forever without a backup, especially during upgrades or hardware changes.
Key Profile folders include Bookmarks, History, Extensions (Apps), Cookies, Sessions, and more—copy them all for full restoration capability.
