How to Retrieve Your TikTok Watch History: Download Videos You've Viewed

Accidentally swiping away from a captivating TikTok video happens to the best of us—especially when juggling calls, messages, or just a clumsy thumb. Unlike YouTube or e-books with easy histories, TikTok doesn't offer a simple way to revisit watched videos. I've been there: losing track of a video I watched twice, unable to recall the creator's name.

The quick fixes? Liking the video or following the creator:

• Tap the "Me" icon in the bottom right.
• For liked videos, tap the heart icon under your profile to view thumbnails.
• For followed creators, tap "Following" below your username, then select the creator to see their videos.

But if you haven't liked or followed? Download your data for a full watch history.

1. From your profile ("Me" icon), tap the three lines in the top right.
2. Go to "Privacy & Safety" > "Personalization and data" > "Download your data".
3. Under "Request data", choose TXT or JSON, then hit "Request data".

Be patient—processing takes 24+ hours, often 2-3 days in my experience. Check the "Download data" tab; it'll show "Pending" until ready. You'll get a ZIP file via web login, with an "Activity" folder containing "Video Navigation" listing dates and URLs of viewed videos.

Data is available for 4 days post-download. It's a goldmine for rediscovering content and tracking habits.
