Apple Music now offers a 50% student discount, bringing the individual plan down to just $4.99 per month for unlimited streaming. This deal is available to verified students in select countries, including the US, UK, Australia, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, and New Zealand—similar to perks from Spotify and Tidal.

If you're new to Apple Music, head to apple.com/music and click Try it free to sign up. For existing subscribers, upgrading to the student plan can be tricky on iOS devices. Based on my experience, the most reliable method is using iTunes on a Mac or PC. You'll need to verify your student status via UNiDAYS, so have your school details ready.
Note: The student discount is available only in the US, UK, Australia, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, and New Zealand. The simplest way is through iTunes on your computer. I've run into issues trying this on iPhone, so stick to Mac or PC.

Open iTunes, sign in with your Apple ID (click Account > Sign In if needed). Click your account name in the top toolbar, then select View My Account (or Account Info).

On the Account page, scroll to Settings and click Manage next to Subscriptions. If you have multiple subscriptions, click Edit beside Apple Music.

Under subscription options (if you're on an individual or family plan), select Student (1 month) – Verification required.

Click Verify Eligibility to visit UNiDAYS, which confirms your student status using school records. Enter your personal email and search for your institution.
Note: Not all schools are supported—if yours isn't listed, you may not qualify.
Next, provide your school email. You'll get a confirmation email from UNiDAYS—follow the link to complete verification, including details like your major and program year. Once done, you'll be verified for a year (re-verify annually if still enrolled).

Return to iTunes > Account > Subscriptions. Your plan should now show as Student at half price.
If the upgrade didn't apply, revisit UNiDAYS. Click Account (top right) > Student Status. Look for a green "Verified Student" banner with your school and expiration date. If not, double-check your steps and eligibility.
