While messaging apps like WhatsApp have overshadowed traditional SMS, spam and promotional texts continue to flood inboxes. Native SMS apps get the job done, but Microsoft's SMS Organizer elevates the experience with smart AI-driven features that declutter, organize, and make your messages actionable.

As seasoned Android power users, we've tested countless SMS apps, and SMS Organizer stands out for its intelligence and usability—especially in India, where it's available. These 12 tips highlight its key strengths and reasons to make the switch.
One standout feature: automatic or manual reminders for flights, bills, and more from your SMS. Tap the new reminder icon on the Reminders tab, add details, and link an SMS. Or, long-press a message in a thread, tap the three-dot menu, and select 'Add reminder' with date and time.

Expired reminders aren't gone forever. Open the Reminders tab, tap the three-dot menu, and select 'View Past Reminders' to review completed ones.

Get a mini bank statement without logging in—directly from transaction SMS (keep them undeleted for full history). Note: This is unofficial; always verify with your bank. Tap the Accounts tab, select an account, and choose 'View statement'.

Quickly filter to unread SMS across categories like Personal, Transactions, or Promotions using the toggle at the top of each tab.

AI sorts most SMS accurately, but override it easily: long-press a thread, tap Move, and select the folder. For single messages, long-press, tap three dots, and choose 'Move to'.

Hide threads without deleting: long-press, tap Move to (for threads) or three dots > Move to (for singles), then select Archive.

Silence notifications from specific senders without blocking: long-press the thread, tap three dots, and select 'Ignore Sender'. A mute icon confirms it.

Quick access to important messages: long-press and tap the star icon. Starred items appear in the dedicated folder.

Default: swipe right to move, left to toggle read/unread. Change via Settings > General > Swipe Options.

Switch tabs by swiping: Settings > General > toggle 'Swipe between tabs'. Note: Only one swipe mode (tabs or threads) active at a time.

In a conversation, swipe left/right to jump to previous/next threads—no back button needed.
Set rules to purge OTPs and promos after set times: Settings > Rules, enable and configure durations.

SMS Organizer earns top marks from our tech team for extras like scheduling, custom notifications, and more. Currently India-only, but worth the wait elsewhere.
