As a dedicated Simplenote user for years, I've discovered why its name fits perfectly—it's effortlessly simple yet packed with power. Available on Android, iOS, and web, this app streamlines note-taking without the bloat.

Don't let its minimalist design fool you—Simplenote brims with pro-level features. These tips, drawn from real-world use on Android (many apply to iOS too), will help you organize, edit, and share notes efficiently.
Simplenote uses a single list view, so pinning keeps frequently used notes at the top. Long-press a note, then tap the pin icon in the top bar. Pinned notes show a circular icon.

No folders? No problem—tags are your organizational powerhouse. Scroll up in a note to find the tag option above the keyboard.

To edit tags, open the navigation drawer and tap Edit next to Tags.

No visible formatting buttons? Switch between Edit and Preview tabs at the top. Simplenote supports Markdown: bold with **text**, italic with *text*. See the Markdown Syntax Guide for more.

Made a mistake? Simplenote's version history lets you revert edits. Open a note, tap the Edit History icon, slide to a prior version, and tap Restore.

Perfect for concise notes, tap the "i" icon at the top of any note to view stats.

Default is edit order, but alphabetical sorting helps. Go to Settings > Sort order > Alphabetical (A-Z or Z-A).

Customize independently of your device: Settings > Font Size.

Eye-friendly dark mode: Settings > Theme > Dark.

Built-in PIN protection: Settings > Enable PIN lock, set your code.

Hands-free with Google Assistant, Siri, or Bixby: Say "Take a note using Simplenote." On iOS 12+, use Siri Shortcuts.

Share via apps, public links, or add collaborators. Tap Share icon > choose method.

Simplenote's clean design shines for quick notes, though folders would enhance organization. Until then, explore these folder-supporting note apps.
